Mallorca Western Festival 2008

World class Westernriding on Mallorca –The best American Western-Riders announced their participation.

The 3rd Mallorca Western Festival promises to become thrilling. Last year’s winner Rudi Kronsteiner has to defend his title against the World Champions from the United States.

From Thursday 18th untill Sunday 21st of September 2008 the 3rd Mallorca Western Festival in Palma will once again attract the best Reiners from all over the world to meet and compete in this international event.

The competition deludes its participants with a USD 170.000 prize money pool which, worldwide, is the highest prize money offered for a reining competition of the NRHA category I and which will motivate the competitors to their limit.

Rudi Kronsteiner, the NRHA world champion of the years 2005 and 2007 will meet the challenge at the Mallorca Western Festival 2008. Last year the Austrian rider amazingly won the two competitions “Mallorca Reining Trophy” and “North America against the rest of the world”.

So this year the 3rd edition of the Mallorca Western Festival promises to be once again thrilling and entertaining.

Kronsteiner is well prepared as he just won the Italian Derby with 236 points, the highest score ever achieved in Europe. But also his proponents are well prepared. The team from the United States not only won a series of titles in their own country, they even passed the qualification following the NRHA USA Derby for the World Championship in Italy. Right after the competition in Italy the American Reining Team will be going to join the challenge on Mallorca.

Participating from the United States are: the USEF champion Craig Schmersal with Dual Rey Me, who won in 2005 the FEI World Reining Masters with a score of 230 on Tidal Wave and Jason Larson with Lena Gallo Cielo. Also nominated are Pete Kyle with A Poco Bueno Dunit and Tom McCutcheon with Ruf Hearted Jac as well as two additional substituting riders.

The Mallorca Western Festival is the first Westernriding event combining high class westernriding competitions with horse shows, exclusive VIP areas, comercial areas, activities for children and a lot more. All this takes place in the extraordinary space of the “Plaza de Toros” of Palma de Mallorca.

Since its start in 2006 the Mallorca Western Festival has become one of the most important riding events throughout Spain. The top reiners consider this event as one of the most important and attractive ones all over the world not only due to the extraordinary USD 170.000 prize money pool.

The competition is recognized by the NRHA (National Reining Horse Association) and attracts riders from the United States, Canada and Europe.
